The Calamus Foundation awards grants to qualifying charitable organizations for programs and activities that focus on care and support services to individuals with HIV/AIDS, as well as services to the LGBT community that promote and support its formation, growth, identity, general wellbeing and social and legal rights. The Calamus Foundation was founded in 1994 by Saul Kaplan, and upon his death in 2004 The Calamus Foundation received the bulk of his estate.
